Westergasfabriek connects bricks to web

Beautiful tiles with a mysterious code can be found all around the Westergasfabriek venue. Did you know that your mobile phone can read those extraterrestrial signs? They will lead you to a website that will give you detailed information on your location. The tiles are QR coded (Quick Response), compare it to a barcode. Only those codes connect to the web and can therefore reveal all sorts of information.

The digital task force of the Westergasfabriek is the UPlabs (Urban Park Laboratories). It is fresh and young and this is the first operational project. Several other project combining Urban Space with web, culture and community are being rolled out and will be operational before 2010.
